Only in Texas can you walk out on your back porch and see a gigantic spider the size of a toad, then turn around and see a baby toad the size of a small spider... then run back inside to grab your camera only to return just in time to watch a large red wasp drag the huge toad-sized spider across your porch to heaven only knows where.
This baby toad was the size of my thumbnail:
I've never seen a tarantula here before, nor have I seen a huge red wasp... much less a huge red wasp dragging a tarantula!
I've never seen a tarantula here before, nor have I seen a huge red wasp... much less a huge red wasp dragging a tarantula!
My life has never felt so bizarre.

Nice pics! Thanks for stopping by the other day!
I don't like the idea of red wasps or tarantulas living nearby
Crystal, the pics of the tarantula and the wasp are incredible... like something you would see in a nature magazine!!! Very impressive!! Hold on to those.
OK, on second look, I am not sure it is a tarantula. They are usually hairy, I think. But... even if it isn't, these are still really cool pictures.
ewwww. that is really gross.
I just blogged about you JUST BECAUSE. Ya know... just because I like you. And just because I can. :)
Ok, my bad...it was I who told her it looked like some kind of tarantula because of the size and "hairy-ness" of it...but after doing a little bit of web-research...looks more like some kind of wolf spider.
Still, you should have seen the thing...it was *THIS BIG*
Wolf spider??!!
Huge spider eating wasps?!!
Sorry, Crystal, but I am never coming to visit you. Ever.
Wow, those are amazing pics!!! My stomach would be turning knots to see that, between fascination and barf-city!!
Wow, I can't believe you got close enough to take those pictures!! They are really cool but you are way braver than me!
