Boy's Best Friend

Did you have a merry Christmas? Ours was pretty sweet. We spent the day at my parents' house where we exchanged gifts and then I helped my mom cook dinner. We had dinner with Uncle Cracker (chiropractor, you remember) and his family. The cutie pie up there is my Boy Cousin hugging Trixie.

We brought the dogs with us, as they had not been to my parents' new house yet (packing up two dogs isn't all that fun!) and we didn't want to leave them home alone all day on Christmas! Yep, they are spoiled. Though not that spoiled, since this year they did not get any Christmas presents. We usually get them one. Trixie loves tearing up wrapping paper. She still got to tear up paper, so I'm not quite sure she missed the gift.

Trixie and Boy Cousin made fast friends. They had lots of fun playing tug of war. That dog NEEDS a kid to play with! Hopefully she'll still be playful when our kid is here and old enough to play. Baby Girl Cousin (the cute one that has a future in photography, you remember) didn't quite know what to make of the dogs. She seemed like she wanted to pet them, but then she'd touch them with just one finger, and only for a brief second. It was funny. Then she got really mad when Trixie licked her face. Can you blame her? I'd be mad too! Trixie is such a little nurturer. It's a shame she can't be a dog mommy... she'd be an excellent one.

I've got some gorgeous family, don't I? I'm glad we spent the evening with them. They're lots of fun!

The Tale of the Crazy Canine

Once upon a time, we adopted a really beautiful dog. All white and fluffy and full of personality, was this little shih-tzu mutt. We found her at the pet store, where a local shelter was adopting out their small dogs and puppies. She caught our attention, this little white and tan ball of fur, as she spun around in circles chasing her tail in her crate.

Sweet as can be, the wonderful little creature captured our hearts. She grew to be a nurturing and loving little girl, watching over and caring for her little "sister" and always anxious to jump on Dustin's lap and welcome him home after a hard day's work.

Her favorite days were when "gramma" and "grampa" came over to see her. She'd show off and love on them and be as happy as a little dog could be. She's never met a stranger. If you move and breathe, she'd be your friend.

She was the best dog a gal could ask for... until today.

Dog-chick snapped, y'all.

My sweet little Trixie turned into a... a... well, I don't know what. A crazy canine? A demented doggy? You tell me.

Because I, of course, just so happened to capture the incident on film (or disc, as it were).

It just ain't right, people. It just ain't right.

But funny? Oh heck yeah. I laughed until my stomach hurt. Poor Trixie.

Poor crazy little Trixie.

It's a sad day

I have new glasses with rimless frames. They have a few little crystals embedded in them (no, I did not do that. They came that way.) I ordered them online. They were very inexpensive, but very very nice high quality glasses.

My dog's poo was "negative", meaning she does not have parasites or worms. So we don't know what's wrong with her. Could be stress, could be her food (we recently changed flavors, tho the poo issues started quite a bit after that), could be both.

So why is is today a sad day? It's always a sad day when you find nothing to talk about other than glasses and poo!

One sick pup

Our little Molly Mouse has been a little sick the past several days. I think she got into something outside. Whatever it is, her little belly has not been happy. It's been all gurgley so she'll go outside and eat the grass which of course then makes her puke. There have been other digestive issues too, of which I will spare you the details.

If she continues to have problems today, I get to be the lucky person who catches a poo to give to the vet to analyze. Aren't you glad you don't have that job (either poo catcher or analyzer)? So far, so good today. Yesterday I started her on a very bland diet with some added acidophillus and a doggy safe tummy med and I think it might be helping. I haven't heard a gurgle since, and I haven't let her eat grass the past two days, so no pukes either.

I discovered that she does not like plain white rice. It's too sticky. She'll try to eat it and then spit it out, smacking her lips like, "what the HECK?!" However, she loves boiled potato, and she'll tolerate the rice mixed with boiled potato. I'll add some meat after her belly gets a little rest and I'm sure she'll tolerate the rice with meat as well. Trixie, on the other hand, will eat anything.

There. I promised I'd make my next post about something other than jewelry, so even though I have several new pretties to share - you got to read about poo and puke instead! Don't you just love my blog?

How does your garden grow?

It will grow well, I hope! However, we won't know yet for at least a few weeks. We my dad dug up an 8'x15' patch of the yard, tilled it, and composted it on Saturday. On Sunday, we planted some plants and seeds.

My first REAL veggie garden! We have tomato plants, red bell pepper plants, and we planted cucumber, zucchini, yellow squash, and green bean seeds. It's a small garden because, well, I do not have a green thumb. It's not the hot Texas heat I'm worried about here... hopefully this garden will survive me.

We plan to put something up around it to keep the dogs out. Right now I have to watch them every time they go out there. I'd like to put up some trellis, but if it's too expensive we'll just be all hillbilly and go for the chicken wire. ;o)

See? Doesn't she look like a tuh-mater dog to you? She looks like a 'mater dog to me.

How about you? Are you planting a garden this year?
